THE INTEGRATION OF EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES IN NATURAL DISASTER PREPAREDNESS.
The Research Council of Zimbabwe (RCZ) is set to host a Multi-Stakeholder Workshop on the Integration of Emerging Technologies in Natural Disaster Preparedness on the 31st of October 2025 at Cresta Oasis Hotel, Harare. This Workshop presents a unique opportunity to explore strategies for incorporating these technologies into natural disaster risk management. Furthermore, it will serve as a foundation for collaboration among various stakeholders, aimed at harnessing emerging digital technologies effectively.
The Workshop is designed to foster collaboration across multiple sectors, including Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies, researchers, and technology companies. By bringing together these diverse stakeholders, the RCZ aims to create an environment conducive to knowledge sharing and innovation. Participants will engage in discussions that delve into policy recommendations and practical applications of these technologies, ultimately working towards a cohesive strategy for disaster risk management in Zimbabwe.
In addition to the primary focus on Natural Disaster Preparedness, the Workshop will also include a session on the validation of National Research Priority Areas. This initiative follows the Multi-Stakeholder Workshop on the Identification of High Impact Research Areas held in September 2024. National Research Priority Areas serve as guiding frameworks that direct research funding, resources, and efforts toward issues of significant impact for the country.
Overall, this Workshop represents a crucial step towards a collaborative approach that embraces innovation and sustainability. By integrating emerging technologies and validating research priorities, Zimbabwe can better prepare for the challenges that lie ahead.
