The NRDZ is an online integrated and comprehensive “one stop shop” covering all public domain research in Zimbabwe. Prior to the development of the NRDZ the RCZ held a Stakeholder Consultative Workshop in October 2010 to gather user requirements and ensure stakeholder participation. Participants were drawn from Government Ministries and Departments, State Enterprises and Parastatals, Universities and Colleges, Research Councils and Research Institutes, Cooperating Partners and International Organisations, Banks and the Private Sector. The NRDZ is expected go a long way in limiting the possibilities of duplication of efforts in research and instead direct efforts towards new areas. The database also fosters linkages among local and international researchers. Knowledge of what others are doing in a particular field of research will provide researchers with the means of identifying potential collaborating partners at national or international level
