National Research Database

In its endeavour to promote research and publicise Zimbabwean research at a global scale, the RCZ created a research database that informs on research developments by Zimbabwean researchers within Zimbabwe and beyond its borders.  The purpose of the database is to provide an integrated and comprehensive collection of data covering all public domain research in the country

Research Control and Coordination

Terms of Reference

  • Develop and update research funds disburesment policies, guidelines,regulations and related instruments for the consideration of Council
  • Conduct training of user guidelines
  • Consider research programmes of research institutes and research councils requiring funding
  • Disburse public funds to research councils, research institutes, universties and research programmes as delegated by Council  and in line with priorities or in line with approvals  for emergent or emergency research requirements
  • Promote cooperation in research among individuals, organisations and institutions both internall and externally
  • Make recommendations to council on research indiactors
  • Consider membership to local, regional and international organisations and issues emanating there from
  • Consider reports on research
  • Conduct research audits ensuring that persons, animals, plants and the environment are protected from the effects of potentially harmful research  or undertakings
  • Develop and implement on behalf  of Council, training programmes in research ethics
  • Consider cases of unethical  conduct of research  on behalf of Council

About RCZ

The Research Council of Zimbabwe (RCZ) is a statutory body established in terms of the Research Act of 1986. It is mandated to promote, direct, supervise and co-ordinate research.
