Full-Time Consultants for the 12th Zimbabwe International Research Symposium Project

The Research Council of Zimbabwe (RCZ) seeks to contract two full time Consultants to work on the 12th Zimbabwe International Research Symposium Project.

1. Introduction

The 12th Zimbabwe International Research Symposium (ZIRS) will be held in February 2019.  RCZ hosts symposia biennially bringing together researchers, policy makers, government, industry, commerce, Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs’) and various users of research results within and outside Zimbabwe. To date, eleven symposia have been held, the most recent being in February 2017.

2. Goals and Objectives

 To be a platform for relationship building between industry and researchers for commercial benefit.

  • To ensure transfer of latest knowledge from researchers to knowledge users (Government, Industry, Entrepreneurs, Investors, Innovators).
  • To popularise and celebrate commercial successes that also fund scientific progress.

3. Scope of the Work

The Consultants will be tasked with the following key responsibilities amongst others:

3.1   Finance/Resource Mobilisation Consultant

  • Undertake an environment scan for potential funding sources.
  • Mobilise resources, both monetary and material, to ensure successful hosting of the event in February 2019.
  • Any other contractual obligations as agreed with RCZ.

 3.2   Marketing and External Relations Consultant

  • Promote and publicise the event locally and internationally.
  • Develop and implement strategies for maximum participation at ZIRS by both local and international delegates.
  • Mobilise Zimbabwean and Foreign Researchers to present peer reviewed research papers.
  • Mobilise exhibitors.
  • Any other contractual obligations as agreed with RCZ.

4. Minimum Qualifications and experience

 4.1      Finance/Resource Mobilisation Consultant

First Degree in Accounting/Financial Accounting plus a professional qualification.

At least 4 years’ experience.

 4.2      Marketing and External Relations Consultant

First Degree in Marketing plus as least 4 years’ relevant experience

5.0       Duration

One (1) year fixed full-time duration starting 01 May 2018 to 30 April 2019.
